Awww...the Golden West. That was such a cool building inside

For years in the 1980s and early 1990s the Golden West was the brightest (officially sanctioned) star in Albuquerque's punk/indie-rock firmament. It really was a great venue...I loved the Old West-style bar and the pressed tin ceiling. The owners of the El Rey supposedly have plans to eventually rebuild, though I am not holding my breath...
