In the Bliss Building on Central & 5th downtown, Lindy's began business in 1929 as the Coney Island Cafe.

Love the Bliss Building, but wish they had not stuccoed over the brick.

Upstairs they filmed some scenes for the movie The Flock. It was supposed to be an old hotel, which it was in the old days. I went up the stairs (entrance behind the blue pole in the picture) when the paint crew was working there. Quite a few smallish rooms, with a sink, unfinished wooden floors. Slightly creepy.

I always had breakfast at Lindy's when I was in town as a tourist, but once I lived in ABQ, I never did.

Thank you for the all the info The upstairs sounds like a treat, a creepy treat, but a treat. I never saw the building pre-stucco. They've torn out the old booths inside so it looks more cafe-ish rather than old time. I guess those booths were pretty squashed down from years of bottoms! D

Was it called Lindy's back in the late 60's / early 70's? We used to eat lunch there often back then but I think it was something else at the time.
