What's going on, Albuquerque?
Another loss. The Silver Moon Lodge. Constructed in the 1950s. Closed for several years before being torn down in 2011. On Central by Robinson Park.
Thanks for Link Doogie. Interesting information. Hope something good happens there. D
Here it is on a ~1960 postcard.
Sweet postcard. Those cars are huge! D
The only belts those cars had were on the engine accessories. American cars didn't start getting standard seat belts until later.
can't say I'm too broken up about this one...it seemed nice enough and was certainly better than a vacant lot, but this place was hardly an architectural gem. Someone needs to start filling the Central vacant lots in, though...perhaps my least favorite side effect of this recession...
I remember it as sort of charming but I agree Phil, the vacant lots are grim and depressing. D
It's nothing...Haha! Take a trip to Detroit. We haven't seen nothing here.
Yes, compared to other cities, we're doing OK. Still, it's tough to see so much leaving and so little taking its place. D
There's still hope here...
We're in the doldrums here and it's getting bad...after 12 years of growth unseen since the 70s, we're now one of only 17 out of the 100 big metros nationwide that continued to lose jobs in the last year. At the risk of getting political, the current mayor and city council got themselves elected on a "pro-business" platform but thus far I'd take the previous "job-killing" administration any day.
