Awwww...I remember that drive-in!  I really miss drive-in movie theaters.

The Burque.org arts/community events board had an April Fool's piece this year that the Sunset Drive-in was about to be reopened. While they readily acknowledged it was a hoax, their stated goal was to get people thinking and plant a seed for eventual renewal. I think it would be great...bring in the food trucks on a Friday or Saturday night, show independent or local films, maybe have the occasional band or car show?

My first time discovering it- I'm still a newcomer here after 4 years of taking pics!

Retro/cult films from the 50's, 60's and 70's would also be a blast to see again on a drive-in screen. Wonder how much it would cost to bring the Sunset Drive-in back to life.

Austin has a crowd-sourced drive-in that's pretty cool.  They take requests, bring in food trucks, do theme stuff and group nights and are generally too hipster for their own good but still seem to have a lot of fun and manage to keep going.

Maybe something similar could be done at this site?  A bit of renovation of the screen and grounds plus a comparatively small digital projector and maybe it could be done?
