What's going on, Albuquerque?

I am the only person that I know that has an alexa toolbar at the bottom of my page. I don't know why I like to see what the traffic rankings are for different sites but to know that my blog over at progressivechange.org shot up over a million sites in the last two days makes me very happy.

Anyway, I just now noticed that Google has moved from #2 to #1 finally conquering Yahoo. Myspace has moved down to #8 while facebook is hanging in at #5. Hulu.com a buzz site not really known before the Alec Baldwin superbowl commercials is now at #286 not bad investment in some superbowl time for them. (BTW, if you are a fan of arrested development they have the entire series streaming and its free among many many current tv shows and shows of days past) I'm almost through the entire first and only season of Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. I am an aaron sorkin fanatic and I have the strangest crush on Bradley Whitford.

This site btw is at 394,011 top 500,000 of net sites is not so shabby :>

Well just thought I would impart my television obsessed weidiness to any who are interested. This time I am really going to bed.

Comment by Kimm on March 1, 2009 at 10:40am: I stopped looking at Alexa years ago because the stats there bore almost no resemblance to the actual stats for my sites - per server records - luckily - since I have far more traffic and page views than Alexa shows. Also, I don't know where they get their data, but when I checked just now the screen shot for my site is at least several years old and the address for my business location is over 4 years old. The about text was pulled by someone (not me) rather randomly and doesn't quite describe. . . Anyway being a nerdy sort I'm just wondering - do you update your records at Alexa to keep them current? Are only certain types of site consistently tracked? The one thing I saw that was way cool was screen shots of my site back to 1999. I sure don't have access anymore to that info and it was fun and interesting to see what the site looked like 10 years ago.

Comment by Erin Oliver on March 2, 2009 at 2:07pm: You know I havent found it all that accurate as far as the detailed stuff like page visits per day, I did upload the counter into the code but i have found it stats wide on a larger scale pretty darn accurate. I think google analytics is probably the best i've seen as far as breakdowns... i often find myself obsessing on that end. I know a few genre's of websites that purely use alexa for its comparison detail.
