I knew in my heart that he would win, that he should win, and he did. I'm in shock. It's like a beautiful dream. I woke up this morning (with a bit of a hangover from celebrating) and wondered if it was really true. Did this amazing man really rally the people of America together? Did the Republican party lose, really lose? Do we now have a President (well, in January at least) who is actually intelligent, coherent, eloquent, and truly wanted by the people. He is the true face of America. America is not white. It is not black. It is not red, or brown, or blue or any other singular color. America is a rainbow in every way. From ethnically, to spiritually, to geographically. I am proud to be an American today. I am proud to have voted. I am proud of our people and proud of our President. I have not had the chance to say any of that in the last 8 years. I have not been proud to go to other countries and declare myself an American. Now I am. I will hold my head up high.
Barack Obama is our new face, our new voice, and our new direction. "Yes we can" is now "Yes We Did" and now "Yes We Will". We will have change in this country. We will have hope, no, we DO have hope. It will be hard, this brave man is going into a tough job in a tough time, but we will prevail. I believe in him. I believe in America. I believe in us. We can do it.
Thank you. Thank you to everyone who voted and made their voices heard. Thank you to everyone who prayed and hoped and got over their disillusionment and depression from the last 8 years and still voted. Still cared. Still volunteered. Still rallied together. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
