Within one tear, is a lady waiting
Head down, sitting still with thoughts
Clouding the mind, making her blind
Hands placed upon her lap, still
Her heart beats beyond the walls
Where possibility use to reside
It reached but came up empty inside

She can’t help as thoughts cross her mind
That perhaps someone is waiting for her
Beyond the dark curtains of the night
She dares to place her feet on dreams
That maybe this world isn’t so bad at all
Lifting her chin, sweep of the hand
Just to gently wipe away the sad

She sits trying to find understanding
Perhaps there will never be one to see
The heart within, intertwined with soul
She can only go the road she has known
Solitude surrounds her, smile unnoticed
So naturally the tears continue their fall

Slowly that spirit slips, quietly it goes
Even to her friends, the retreat is missed
Little black bird, was never good at goodbyes
As she spreads her wings, forever she flies
So when you see that baby black bird
Sitting out there in the world all alone
Stop and look deep within her eyes
You will see she is far from home

“Home is where the heart is”
This black bird
Is far from home
