Albuquerque has many different types of cyclists and this is our chance to come together, both for fun and to raise the motoring public's awareness of our presence on the road.
The third annual "Can You See Us NOW?" bicycle ride and rally WILL absolutely take place this Sunday, September 25. Although there were difficulties to overcome with the number of police officers being required to escort the event, those problems are behind us. We will have 15-18 APD officers there to assist as we travel down Route 66 by BICYCLE! Starting at 4:00 pm from 4600 Copper NE (High Desert Yoga) we will ride slowly down Central Ave. through Nob Hill, UNM area, Downtown and then Old Town, making our way to Tiguex Park. This ride & the rally in Tiguex that follows has two purposes. First, we are riding to remember cyclists who have died in crashes with motor vehicles in New Mexico since 1989. Second, but no less important, we ride to celebrate the enjoyment of cycling.
All participants need to sign-in. Come to High Desert Yoga between 1:30 and 3:30 so you are ready to ride at 4:00 pm. The ride is free, donations accepted. Everyone will get a custom Polar Insulate water bottle and other cool stuff.
This ride is brought to you by Duke City Wheelmen Foundation, also known as the Ghost Bike people.

Comment by gleejb on September 23, 2011 at 9:09am RunLikeADog: never been asked that before. It will be tough for them because of the slow speeds. They can try, starting at the back of the group so if its too slow they can turn off and just meet us at Tiguex. Can still come sign-up though, 1:30-3:30, then play it by ear. Don't think they should be in the middle or lead of the group though - might freak people out!
Michelle Meaders: some will leave cars at Tiguex ahead of time, but there is a suggested route back posted at dukecitywheelmen.org scroll down to the bottom of the page. Thanks! for asking.
