You wouldn't know it by the bright shining sun and unusually warm temperatures, but the holiday season is upon us. The upside to all this warm weather is the ability have holiday events outdoors without having to bundle up in three layers of sweaters.
I'm sure that helped add to the success of today's Food Truck Holiday Extravaganza held at Talin Market. Plenty of people were on hand perusing the trucks, walking up to each to check out the menu while they pondered out loud about which ones to try.
As for me, I went with three trucks: The Boiler Monkey, The Seasonal Palate, and The Supper Truck.
You'll remember the The Boiler Monkey is the new bustaurant running around town serving up some amazing crepes. I opted for the seasonal Sweet Potato Pumpkin Pie Crepe and people were ogling my plate topped with whipped cream and sliced almonds as I passed by.
I followed that up with a combination of falafel and fries from The Seasonal Palate. This was my first time trying their food and I was very pleased with the result. The Middle Eastern flavors were fantastic and I would definitely recommend to others.
To wrap up the Holiday Extravaganza, I tried a treat concocted by The Supper Truck for the event: a Holiday ZuberFloat. The float was made by combining Zuberfizz soda with a house egg nog ice cream. The combo was holiday heaven. A real treat.
The whole event was a big success. Tons of people came out and had the chance to explore and experience some of Albuquerque's best food trucks. I only hope that they continue to support the local food trucks all year long.
