Follow Eric: Around ABQ - Marigold Parade

Yesterday was the 20th Annual South Valley Dia de los Muertos Marigold Parade and Celebration. This was my first time going. How I missed the previous 19 is a mystery to me. And a sad loss because that means I missed out on a couple of decades worth of celebrating a beautiful culture.

You would think with all the skulls, caskets, and other reminders of death, the event would be somber or even unnerving but truthfully, the decor, the makeup, the outfits all radiate beauty and a sense of honor. It's tough to explain. Those of you who were there know what I'm talking about. Those who have never participated in a Day of the Dead event should check one out. For now, these pictures and video will have to do.
