Governor Martinez Cuts the entire budget for the African American Performing Arts Center

Do you benefit from and care about African and African American Culture? Governor of New Mexico Martinez, has cut the entire budget for The African American Performing Arts center via her line item veto power. Call the Governor's office and say "Please restore the budget for the African American Performing Arts Center.   Call: (505) 476-2200 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting            (505) 476-2200      end_of_the_skype_highlighting

Why is this not more of a story here on DCF? Governor Martinez also line-item vetoed the entire budget for the New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women. The only two state agencies to be written off entirely. Maddening, confusing, and - in regard to the Commission - ironic. The Governor's office seemed entirely disinterested in my opinion as to the importance of both institutions - both when I expressed it months ago when she was threatening the action and in the here and now that she has done it.

Greetings Debra:  Just wanted to send you this message about the African American Performance Art Center and The New Mexico Commission on the Status of Women.  Went to the NM Commission's last Governors recognition of NM Women's banquet.  To say the least she wasn't there.  I'm at a loss for words ... I haven't made more of a comment about any of this.  It's all been so disappointing and I have no clue as to what it takes to persuade our Governor.  Haven't kept up with the news on it all.  Unfortunately, tuned out and just beginning to resurface to ask...where are we headed now for our programs and community?
