Comment by mombat on December 10, 2008 at 11:57am: The rail yard is mixed in all through , but I think at :28 and :48 it is pretty clear. At 1:28 and and 1:57 is just outside of Ghost Ranch where they were stopping traffic this summer to blow stuff up.

Comment by Masshole in Fringecrest on December 10, 2008 at 12:04pm: Opening scene and chase scene with burned out cars is most definitely the road to Montessa Transfer Station (AKA the Dump). Most of those "open cloudy sky in the background" are from out there, from what I can tell. My next door neighbor sublet her house this summer to the 2nd Camera Man (or whatever they call it) and he told me about the fake 7-11 they built out there just to blow up. (In Apu voice-) "Thank You Come Again"...

Comment by thorstad on December 10, 2008 at 12:12pm: Almost all of the exterior shots were on or around mesa del sol, including los picaros and bobby foster, where they built (and blew up) a 7-11. They recreated the bosque a ways out on the mesa and were blowing up helicopters for weeks. They also built an exterior set that recreated the taos gorge bridge.
