Life, food, events, and community in Albuquerque, NM

It was such a beautiful afternoon today that I couldn't bear the thought of taking I-25 to Santa Fe. I pointed the car eastward and through Tijeras Canyon we went. At Highway 14 (the Turquoise Trail) we headed north and enjoyed a wonderful relaxing drive through Golden, the Ortiz Mountains and Madrid. However, as far back as Tijeras, I started to see signs for Cerillos then Los Cerillos and Cerrillos again. Which one is it????? So, naturally (ha ha) we had to stop.

A few miles outside of town we saw a sign for the Los Cerrillos turnoff. Then just before the turn we saw a sign for Cerrillos. Then we came across this historic road marker a hundred yards later.

The view of Cerrillos from Highway 14 after we left Madrid.

I forget that the Turquoise Trail can also be called the "artist's trail."

Nothing is better than driving through some of these New Mexican small towns on a crisp autumn afternoon. The long shadows and wood smell in the air is heaven to me.

And as we left Cerrillos a sign read "see you later." You betcha! I need to have my first cold one at Mary's Bar anyway.
