What's going on, Albuquerque?

Glad to see the Simms building get a facelift. It's a cool building and doesn't deserve to slowly slide downhill. Don't mind having a Rebel Donut close by, either. Although my arteries might mind...
Amazing job at the Morning Fix this week, Adelita.
I work right near the Simms Building. Just yesterday we were in a meeting waiting for our manager and we were talking that we need a donut shop downtown. Our prayers have been answered.
An amazingly bitchin' week of The Fix, Adelita!
Rebel Donut will definitely get me downtown more often.
Curious to see how the Simms building renovation goes. Cherry/See/Reames has a strong reputation with historical preservation work, so I'm glad they're on board.
Fun fact: the high rise is actually the SECOND iteration of the Simms Building. Per the plaque at its base, it used to be an old stone building built in the late 1800s. In fact, the stone that makes up its rusticated base is reused from the original.
Thanks to the internets, here's the old Commercial Club/Simms Building in all its splendor. Demolished for the current structure in 1954...
That old building was lovely--much nicer than the current incarnation, in my opinion. What a shame it's gone.
The old Richardsonian Romanesque style was huge in the late 1800s, and rightly so, but I can see how it quickly fell out of vogue when compared to the sleek and slender minimalism of the International Style movement. Both look equally antiquated from today's perspective, and both retain a certain sentimental nostalgia.
I'm just hoping that the designers behind the renovation respect the history of the Simms building - "both" of them.
Since it is a Historic Building, isn't there some strict guidelines that must be followed especially since the will be using Historical Tax Credits for some of the funding?
