Here are some specifics on the whole "cyber security tech hub" news item from yesterday.
A cowboy hat purchased in a Downtown ABQ Hat Shop is selling for $10K on ebay. Man, I hate country music.
ABQ Uptown-like "lifestyle mall" coming to 12th & I-40. I'll believe it when I see it.
Washington Post features our own Pajama Men.
City Council says no to naming Wells Park Community Center after Johnny Tapia. Idea has been downgraded to "maybe a room or gym" in his honor.
You know city budgets are tight when they only set aside $5.5M for Marketing and "Chipping in to close deals."
A Breaking Bad copycat crime ring- this one's weed, not meth, but does feature using a car wash to launder the money.
Fodor's loves us, and wants people to visit us in 2013.

I realize past pronouncements have identified the 12th & I-40 project as "Uptown-like lifestyle mall" but the actual linked article says "Shopping Center". Ever since "Q" opened there have been several local planned projects that have tried to sell themselves as Q clones. The Albuquerque reality is that this town can only support one of these and then just barely. When Williams-Sonoma opened the Q store it closed the one at Cottonwood. And even Q was reduced to filling vacant space with a mattress store. The real question is what Winrock is going to be able to deliver. There is a certain limited upscale market in the near north valley but I'm guessing Sprouts, not Whole Foods.
