• Weather balloons, lens flares....they'll say just about anything to debunk the fact that UFOs just dig New Mexico.
• Turtle shoppers attacked, taken hostage by employees at Duke City pet store. We "ferret" out the story here.
• Volcano Vista students suspended for making, selling fake parking permits.
• Good news: Home prices in New Mexico were up in August. Bad news: As usual, we trail the rest of the USA.
• Who flies to Clovis anyway? Aviation committee there disses Duke City for Denver.
• After summer brouhaha, local food vendors still in the majority at Balloon Fiesta. Here's the full list.
• Your better, faster, smarter cellphone may someday owe its success to nanscience research being done today at UNM.
• Got an opinion about UNM's proposed new hospital? Don't miss your opportunity to speak up at public Town Hall meetings this week and next.

Comment by Izquierdo on October 3, 2012 at 10:28am Having read only your teasers, my comment would be that (1) year in and year out, UFO's do more for the New Mexico economy than weather balloons, (2) UNM can't even keep a football team running, much less a hospital; (3) An out-of-town vendor would have a hard time making a living in competition with New Mexico red and green vendors, already at mid-season form after the State Fair; and (4) Volcano Vista students are really creative and are following the lead of American businesses everywhere, especially those connected with the puro derecho U.S. Chamber of Commerce. -- Izquierdo.
Comment by Aaron Greenwood on October 3, 2012 at 11:47am @Lzquierdo what specifically are your issues with American business and the Chamber of Commerce? You make an innuendo that I don't agree with, that is there is something inherently immoral or unjust about business, the Chamber of Commerce and America indirectly.

Oh, that is exactly what he is saying.
Comment by Aaron Greenwood on October 3, 2012 at 2:20pm @ramon t What is your point? I stated as much myself.
I asked for specificity, so we could debate the assertion that there is "something inherently immoral or unjust about business, the Chamber of Commerce and America indirectly." Just saying something doesn't make it true. Just because one believes something is true that doesn't make it true either. When a person makes an assertion it is on them to defend it.
It could be the case that a person making a statement believes it true but on deeper reflection may realize an error. It is amazing how much can be learned by defending one's position. Sometimes one finds clarity. Sometimes one sees how full of crap they are. And sometimes others are convinced by the correctness and strength of your augments.
Through discussion and the exchange of ideas we could come to the conclusion that the scope of the innuendo is too broad to be meaningful. What if we open the discussion to include the business practices of China and France how does that change our understanding of morality, business and injustice. One point might be that hating on America is an obsession, when the world is littered with violence and inhumanity. The excesses outside the USA are for the most part much graver.
