Morning Fix: Cherry and Silver Edition

We're Number Three!! We're number Three!!...Lobos go Grizzlies hunting.

And how about a little love for our neighbors down south. NMSU Aggies are in the show, against Magic's alma mater.

Our very own Adelita makes the news!

The GOP begins lining up their ducks.

Looking for something a little bit different this St. Patrick's Day? Ask a Mexican.

@Rodney, yeah, I guess five of the nine links is a little over the top. I did throw in some Sesame Street for good measure, though. Go Lobos!

@DougR If I read my brackets correctly, it's even more challenging than final four. The only way they meet is in the championship game. If I were a gambling man and I knew someone who made book, I might put a sawbuck or two down on that just for kicks.

@cathyray, "...Lita on tv!!" That's HOT.

Well, I am going to be watching the teams from my future (hopefully near future) home with interest.

However, if I may be allowed a small (perhaps not so small) bit of crowing about the home of both my formative and present times......

Having grown up on a ranch in the Flint Hills of Kansas, Kansas State (nbr. 2 seed in the West Region) has always been my sentimental favorite. I compare this to being a Chicago White Sox fan. GO WILDCATS!! Although they are a bit of an outside shot, KSU all the way!

Having attended Kansas University, I have to take some pride and enjoyment from their accomplishments (nbr. 1 seed in Midwest Region). I'm sorry folks, I don't see NMSU getting past KU. KU definitely to the final four and per my bracket picks, KU wins the NCAA.

And even though they live in the State of Misery (Missouri), I have to give a half-hearted shout out to MU in getting to the tournament. However, assuming UNM and MU meet in the round of sixteen, I won't be rooting for MU. Note to UNM coaches, based on the MU games I've seen they seem to be front-runners. Get them down by a few points and keep them there. They're likely to start getting desperate and start making mistakes.

Good luck to all.

If I were a betting man, I'd know that the current spread is UNM -9 and NMSU +13.5.. The opening line was around -8 and +12.5, so not too much movement yet.

When I saw your "ask a Mexican" in the same sentence as St. Patrick's day, I thought I was going to read about that unusual recording I saw on sale at the local 'bucks coffee house...it's an album by the Celtic band the Chieftains with a pic of la Virgen Guadalupe on the cover! That apparently was recorded in Mexico, using various mariachi and spanish language singers intertwined with Celtic reels and jigs! Now THAT'S a mash up...
