Whoa. That photo of Elephant Butte certainly is a reality check. We need about a year more of storms like the one we had on Friday (in rainfall amounts, that is), including about 10 killer snowfall winters to even put a tiny dent in our drought. Crap. But climate change is a hoax. At least there is plenty of sand for people to stick their heads in.
Did the jet stream lodge some kind of irony high pressure zone over Albuquerque? Just as Mayor Berry proposes to spend millions turning the bosque into a theme park, the bosque is closed because of fire danger. Then Pete Dinelli's economic plan is reported as a $300 million Sunport expansion just as Frontier announces it will no longer operate in Albuquerque. Now, Gov. Martinez's minions outsource New Mexico's mental health services to Arizona just as Arizona is struggling to beat out Florida as the biggest challenge to mental hygiene in the nation.
