The whole camera situation in the Legislature is super ridiculous. $7K is nothing to pay to upkeep the cameras, especially seeing that so much more money is being wasted on other projects. It's obvious they have something to hide up there, and it's not just them trying to not get caught sleeping on camera.

Speaking of those cameras: Who was that jackass that complained about being caught sleeping during legislative sessions!

I have trouble believing that 57% of New Mexicans work for small businesses. However, the article has no sources, and I can't hear the audio. Maybe 57% of the businesses are small businesses?

I thought most New Mexicans worked for some branch of government - Federal, state, or local, including the Universities and schools, or for large defense corporations or chain stores.

Wonder how many people actually tune in to the televised legislative/committee sessions and of those, how many are awake. If the Reps can't stay awake and they are physically there then maybe this should be kept going as a sleep aid for viewers at home. Most of the juicy stuff takes place out of the view of the cameras.

I've been at the Roundhouse for 2 days straight and I can understand why reps would fall asleep. Committee meetings start at 8 am. Their day is completely full, with legislative sessions, caucuses and committee meetings. In between, everyone under the sun tries to track them down to influence them in one way or another. Much of the actual session is mind numbing protocol. Yesterday I watched for a half hour as they read bills into the program. Each bill's title is read twice and then it is recognized as having been read twice and entered on the docket, so that it can be discussed later. It's been interesting, but I'm glad it's not my regular focus!

If you get caught on camera, you win a bolo tie.
