Because I am suffering from PTSSDTOT (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome Due To Overeating Turkey), I am hoping that someone out there will post some interesting news stories. The Friday Morning Fix is in your hands.

La Cueva's reign on high school major sports titles for boys has been halted, courtesy of Las Cruces Mayfield, who beat the Bears in football, American version..

This morn, (Nov. 25, 2010), word is out on morning TV that fake marijuana will be taken off the shelf.in Albuquerque. Who would have thought we'd each the point where the real thing is semi-okay, but none of those low grade herb leafs?

As a graduate of the Foreign Languages department of UNM, I find it extremely sad that they would consider dropping those degrees. That being said, I was one of 3 graduates in my major the year I graduated- and I'm pretty sure none of us took Russian. Unfortunately, people aren't always that interested in studying languages. This bums me out.

Thanks for the alert, Kitson! I'm not familiar with too many of these degree programs, but really, is it hard to keep a joint econ-philosophy program going when you have those two departments established anyway? and there are not that many Latin American Studies (LAS) Ph.D. candidates, but there are a ton of M.A. LAS students, so (again) why cut out a program that is already going--they just need advisors from existing departments for their dissertations. Holy crap, UNM! Do we need to start a "save education" campaign at a UNIVERSITY?
