  • and...just because I stumbled upon this blog and it has seriously made my life so much more complete--enjoy!
  • A special thanks to Benny the Icepick for his help with the amazing photos, banners and aiding my totally unsavvy self through html. Also to those who so awesomely helped contribute to stories--thanks! Happy weekend and for sure take advantage of the new Weekend Fix! (fantastic idea!)

Two things - I think it's millions, not billions (per mile of fencing).

About that Gates Foundation thing - so, they're sending two recent MBA grads to APS - are they also paying APS to get the data that they need, or is this it? My wife works at a public school that gets funding from a foundation, but the teachers have to spend hours acquiring and analyzing data for them - that they don't get compensated for.

Ah, Krista---have to love the hyperboleandahalf. Yesterday's post speaks to me.... Thanks for letting the rest of us in on that blog. Speaking of which--have you seen I think you'd like it...

Shotsie, thanks for the correction--I blame it on this cold and my lack of ability to concentrate on anything longer than 3 seconds. I'm not sure about the funding, the impression I got was that they were going to help fund the project in its entirety, but hopefully someone who knows better can chime in. Plus, the Gates Foundation has more money than like...any other and is pretty great at completely funding things. and yes, Jenny Lewis. :) OBTS, it also spoke to me and my dream of never having a real job and I'll for sure check out ginandtacos--thanks!

Oh joy! hyperboleandahalf is my all-time favorite blog. My personal favorite is the post containing her interpretation of the pain-rating chart with the little faces commonly used in medical offices, accompanied by her own pain-rating scale. No matter how many times I see it, it makes me laugh.

Regarding the MWC post, as a longtime supporter of KSU (and grudgingly KU), I was kinda enjoying the potential implosion of the Big 12 and the rumors that the KS schools would perhaps join the MWC. I'd be able to drag my schools to ABQ with me when I achieve my move to ABQ. Ah well......

Shotsie, there are lots of details about the Gates Foundation grant in the beginning of this APS Board of Education video:

A sad farewell to one of our favorite local bands, Youngsville. Great interview! And please make sure to say goodbye to them on Friday!…
