A good place to ride out the recession? Maybe, but from the meetings I have been in, our financial consultants are telling us that we are only 30% of the way to the bottom of the recession and that New Mexico may not feel the effects as bad, but will be slower to pull out. The best guess we have heard is that 2012 will be the year NM finally lifts out of the big R and another five years before businesses realize the weath they had experienced before the slide.

and what makes you think they want to. If they know so much it makes sense they'd stay in NM, eh?

I think we'll continue to have several Michael Messiah stories for awhile as long as he's alive, because like Sarah Palin, they just can't be quiet! ;)

Good to see the "get out of jail early" card failed.
