Regarding the first hit cyclist story: "Ackley, who works as a motorcycle instructor, is facing charges of leaving the scene of an accident and criminal damage to property, police said."

ummm...assalt? what a sad morning fix, but I think the headline says it all. Wonderful week--thanks, JM!!

Albuquerque loses another convention, this time to Tampa. Do you think it was their Olde Tyme streetcar that cinched the deal?

And as usual, I should just refrain from reading the comments on any bicycle related story. I can't fathom how anyone could defend that road raging asshole for what's essentially attempted murder with a deadly weapon.

Yeah, you're right Benny. And I think what Krista was saying is, "Where is the assault charge?" Good question.

Yep, the driver of the truck will walk with a minor fine--and be free to run over more cyclists in the future. He'll be REALLY pissed now. What a fine world we live in.

Oh, and here's the other thing--what is it with those commenters' problems with bicycle clothing? I have never understood the disdain that cyclist-haters have for bike shorts and jerseys.

I just assume it's latent homophobia as an automatic defense for their own insecurity regarding their sexuality. But that's just because no other reason I can come up with makes a lick of sense.

I mean, it's not like these internet commenters are the pinnacle of fashion or anything.

Thanks for finishing my thought, Johnny! I'm never up that early I think my motor/thinking skills were impaired. :)
