The main dude at the advertising agency that came up with "Just do it" said that he got the inspiration for that from a story he read about an inmate readying for his execution by firing squad in Utah. The inmate apparently said "Let's do it" and this adman thought it sounded like a good tag to use in an ad. Nice, eh?
