Alameda bridge and both accesses on either side of river were packed yesterday (Sunday) as I drove back and forth. It made me hopeful that he was found. Thanks for including this, Adelita, as well as Smith's and NASA!

I am not surprised the Smith's workers are upset. It seems as if it is as crappy a place to work as it is to shop. I hate that it is my main store--there are some things I have to get there as opposed to Sunflower. None of the workers at Smith's seem very happy, plus they overtask the cashiers--never enough baggers, one cashier not only has a cash register to manage, but also has to mind the self checkout lane. All this says to me that Smith's doesn't want to hire more workers to make things go smoother, but is just trying to overwork the workers they have. Crappy policy.

Oh, and I have asked repeatedly that they put real bike racks in at the one on Constitution and Carlisle and have always been ignored. It's like the management doesn't give a crap about the customer.

I just went to the link for the Voice of NASA. I do remember that voice of his! And did not know he lived in Alamogordo. A lot of historic folks in our state.

Ditto on the bike rack at that Smith's location- not much different than most POB's, but it would be nice to have a place to park once in a while. What frustrates me most is the differences in quality from one location to another. It's not limited to Smith's- but Albertson's, too. The Smith's at Carlisle and Constit is a world above the one at Carlisle and Menaul- only about a mile north. It seems store quality tracks the surrounding income & property values- but why does it have to be that way?

These labor disputes are always interesting to a person like me who has never worked for a union, had job stability or anything guaranteed. And we're in the worst economic situation since the Great Depression. Does anyone have a link or something they can post about what the union is demanding. It would be interesting to compare their complaints to that of the average non-union American. I lived next a UAW member once (back in the 80's). He was laid off work for over a year and was still getting 90% of his paycheck. So, I'm a bit tainted with unions as you might guess.....

That's really too bad regarding the Smith's workers. However, I have no sympathy for many of cashiers/checkout people I've had to deal with over the years @ the one on Carlisle/Const.. One shouldn't have to get attitude because they are told to remove an item from the register after they bruise and-or damage the fruits and vegetables. Fruits and Veggies have gone up in price like many other items, and it takes time to select the item that is wanted. It sounds fussy, but it felt ludicrous to have to pay for items after being handled so poorly upon checkout.

My wife and I weren't the one's who felt this as she'd get nods of agreement from others in line.

Despite notifying management of that issue repeatedly, it's because of poor customer service on behalf of many cashiers/checkout people for which I no longer spend shop at Smiths.

Now the baggers -- ALL the baggers that have helped me from Smiths that were much younger were really great in handling all the products.

Maybe all you other patrons have handled your produces better, and maybe they've improved over the last 2 years. I'm happy to spend my money elsewhere.
