• Is anyone really surprised by this? Both gubernatorial candidates in trouble for things said in their campaigns. Who else is ready for election advertising to be done?

• Maybe both candidates could use some yoga therapy to reduce their stress levels. A UNM professor has written a book, "Yoga for Lawyers" that could do the trick.

APD's newest cadet class — the largest since 2011 — began training on Monday, with more focus on crisis intervention and different use-of-force.

• Do your part to memorialize Tapia. Open casting call Saturday for filming of "Johnny".

• ICYMI, New Mexico drivers were ranked the "least safe" in the nation recently. Yep, another survey that puts us at the bottom of the list.

I am not surprised that NM drivers are ranked last in the nation.  If I am not mistaken, a person does not have to take drivers' ed if he or she is over 18.  All you have to do is pass the pathetically easy MVD test.  Then when these uneducated drivers get out on the road, the police do little to nothing to cite traffic violations.  So it's anything goes on the roads and we have the accident rates to prove it.  Problem is, there is no will to correct it.

//Verzwyvelt told the Washington Beacon he doesn’t remember tweeting those things and that his Twitter account may have been hacked a couple years ago//

"My account may have been hacked" is usually what comes about two weeks before a press conference full of crocodile tears ahead of retreating from the public eye into obscurity - considered by many to be much easier than actually growing and developing as a human being.  Also, Verzwyvelt's name is worth like 31 points in Scrabble.

While I'm sure the article about the Police Academy contains a lot of PR and hot air, I found it very encouraging. It sounds like they're actually getting serious about training officers to react intelligently to a situation instead of running a boot camp for a paramilitary force.
