What's going on, Albuquerque?
And Journal 'Fishing Line' columnist Bill Dyroff passed away. He did live a good life.
Mmmm...I just might need some El Modelo for lunch today. Thanks for the round-up, Phil!
From Joe Monahan's blog:
"They were debating a dollar-an-hour hike in the county minimum wage that he was against. He (Kush) unloaded on Chelsey Evans, a volunteer for the labor movement group "Working America," as she addressed the commission. He called her a "radical bitch," but praised her shoes. Later, former Bernalillo County GOP executive director Bob Cornelius joked with Kush on Facebook about the footwear. "Maybe she uses those boots to walk Central...even in this economy she can exchange bumper cables for boots." "
I was going to give Kush a pass for apologizing in a sincere fashion, but these two are way out of line with their sexist comments. That's the great thing about the internet - there's no denial once it's out there...
I do know that El Modelo is mighty tasty, but word to the wise: those Travel+Leisure 'best of" awards come from readers, who vote on their favorites. There is no limit to how many times a person can vote. Kind of like the Alibi Best of Burque contest.
So yesterday evening I was listening to the KUNM report on the GOP sexist comments and I SWEAR she said that he said Evans had great "boobs." I'll admit that I was surprised they would say boobs on the air, but even more surprised that someone would be so stupid as to Tweet that.
Monahan actually conflated comments about two different Working America speakers...the 19-year old was a volunteer, but the boots/streetwalker comments were directed at Evans, Working America's state director. So Kush and Cornelius were really spreading the love around.
OBTS, I'm not shocked it sounded like Rita Daniels said something other than "boots"--her delivery is absolutely terrible and drives me insane. She's my least favorite KUNM newsreader ever.
