• It happened in a flash. Lightning struck a UNM student last week. Luckily, he's fine, but his watch is now deceased.

• Are you familiar with Datil, NM? You might want to be. A local ranch in this rural setting is proposing drilling wells into the aquifer there to pipe water to Albuquerque.

• Veteran local TV news anchor, Dick Knipfing, retiring at the end of the month.

• Former Sandia High athletic director accused of planting drug paraphernalia in coach's office was re-assigned twice, now retiring.

• Facing threats of national boycotts after suspending two Spanish-speaking employees last week, Whole Foods has revised its employee language policy.

FYI, the Whole Foods language fracas happened last year, not last week.  The article is dated 06/14/13. Even on the excellent Morning Fix, Time can get wibbly-wobbly.

Bindi Queen, thanks for catching that. I thought the article was familiar! :-)  I guess those things happen when you're brain isn't awake yet for writing the Morning Fix.

In the lightning article, KOAT misspelled it as "Lightening" in the chyron.  They need to listen to the new Weird Al album!

Interestingly enough I used to work at KOAT and had several moments of spelling fiascos and even once put a NM Senators face on the wrong OTS graphic for a story of a child abuse story.  I have nothing but respect for the graphic/chyron operators on live TV.

Really, Granjero, I just wanted an excuse to post the video.
