Morning Fix - 'Runway' & 'Lock Up' Eyeing Bernalillo County?

• County inmates to sew their own clothes. 'Runway' and 'Lock Up' said to consider money-saving simultaneous film shoot in the Duke City. Well, maybe not.

Winter wolf loose at the Duck Pond.

• Language Barrier. ABQ attorney gets corrected by U.S. Supreme Court Justice. Turns out "inchoate" (silent 'h' & rhymes with 'poet') has no "choate". Just like "disgruntled" has no "gruntled." So much for root words.

• Nominations open for UNM Peace Prize. Locksley probably out of running.

Sphincter 101. Daily Lobo plows new ground. Community abuzz.

• Target quits selling farmed salmon. Good for them.

• New mayor gets tough on burglars: publicize mug shots, CSI's, fingerprint criminals. You mean we don't do these things already?

Regarding the anal sex article, I don't have a problem with it being written, in fact I'm glad that Self Serve's recent visitor is getting some press, but it further shows how lacking "journalism" is. Terms like "poop", "butt sex" and "bum bum" take the article out of the realm of information and into high school locker room banter.

Then reading the KOB followup, the author says she's concerned about people doing it wrong and spreading disease. At what point is that covered? I saw no mention of performing safe sex among the tips how to enjoy it.

Have you heard of Amadou Diallo?

About the skills learned in sewing your own prison gear - I love the quote in the paper: "Supporters of the initiative, however, said it would provide inmates who participate with a productive way to spend their time and allow them to develop work skills, perhaps paving the way to a job after release." Maybe they'll release the prisoners to India or Vietnam.....

(Actually, I don't hve a problem with them learning skills, but they are planning to build a 2500 sq ft building for this - if the building was there, or they just used a couple of those school trailers, well, okay, but building a facility to test an idea when money is tight - nope.)

Ahh, the wack ass sanctuary city policy that Berry ran on. Playing into Repubs and Teabaggers fear of brown people taking over their city. I don't mind him getting tougher on crime, but profiling minorities (in this case Hispanics) as criminals under the guise of ABQ being a sanctuary city doesn't play well with a brown person like myself. I guess that's what you get when you hire someone like Darren White as your public safety director.

Somebody ought to tell Justice Scalia. Although it seems 'gruntle' was a "back-formation" from 'disgruntle.' Good work, Sophie.

Thanks Sophie, I thought everybody knew that! It only makes sense.

//Actually, gruntle is a word.//
Oof! Just when I was starting to get a handle on this stuff, this comes by and suddenly I think I "derstand."
