What's going on, Albuquerque?
Hey, Mayor Berry - in case you didn't notice, the 180 officers affected by the now-defunct policy CAN'T VOTE in Albuquerque elections - (ie, there's not much they could do about it- that's a strategy used with poor people, why not non-resident cops). At least they could have implemented a reimbursement schedule for out-of-towners - they were willing to chip in a whopping $20/week before - maybe give all officers a 22 mile per day allowance, then charge them the Federal mileage rate.
About that Carlsbad frozen body - great strategy - and interesting (and timely) confession. I always wondered why the old folks I know have huge chest freezers - how much chile do they need anyway?
Mr. White's perception leads to several thoughts whose genesis has been from occasional observation by a number of people and conversations ... Mr. White being the subject.
Mr. White seems to have a talent for alienating his own constituancies and leaving negative impressions with the public in general. I have found Darren White to be an "odd duck". He seems to range from apoplexity to discombobulation to political opportunist.
His "darting eyes tic disorder" does not help his credibility when he appears to be under stress or is being challenged. I'm hoping he seeks some medical help in terms a neurological workup, I am being sincere ... there are a number of serious underlying disorders that can cause chronic motor tics.
I find it facinating though how he compensates by what some of my associates described as "compensation through school yard bully tactics".
I'm not sure why Mayor Berry and Govenor Martinez favor him unless "Republican" is the major criteria. I do know "r(R)epublicans" who are reasonable people ... so that doesn't seem to be the answer. Given his failures in the elective area past, he would seem to be a liability.
For those interested in tic disorders:DSM-IV-TR diagnosis codes for the tic disorders are:
307.20 Tic Disorder NOS (Not Otherwise Specified)
307.22 Chronic Motor or Vocal Tic DisorderICD10 diagnosis codes are:
F95.1 Chronic motor or vocal tic disorder
F95.8 Other tic disorders
F95.9 Tic disorder, unspecified
Tic or Compulsion? It's Tourettic OCD
I find it interesting that Darren White, a.k.a. Mr. Law Enforcement seems to never inspire the confidence of....law enforcement officers.
With regard to the sad story of the lady who hid her dead husband in the freezer, wouldn't she still get his retirement pension, as his widow? I know my mother gets my father's pension (and I wonder if the individual who programs in the check says to his or her self "my God, how long is this lady going to live???"). Oh, and a tiny copy-editing point--the word for a woman surviving her husband is "widow." The word for a man surviving his wife is "widower."
Though it's not mentioned in this story, the take-home car policy has since been restored to its former glory. Awesome how the police union was so quick to sacrifice real benefits like college loan forgiveness and home downpayment assistance for police so they could keep driving their aggresssionmobiles home.

Well, it's really worth it to be able to yap and text on your cellphone while speeding up and down the streets of Albq. with the knowledge that you'll never, EVER be pulled over.

If you went to school and got promoted, you'd lose your overtime pay .... now there's a real sacrifice
BTW - pension payments to the survivor are usually cut in half upon death of the pensioner - c'mon, all you do is move to a smaller place
