Another four years of Chavez, and nothing but total silence will be acceptable. Do we pay him to just try to find new ways to fine people?

Well, here's the problem with the stupid revving law--the police have to be present to hear the revving. Now, I suppose it's possible a few boneheads might rev their motorcycle engine in front of a cop, but I am guessing most won't--so there will still be revving, but no way to enforce this dumb law. It's like the no using cell phones while driving law--unenforced and a waste of paper and resources.

Of course, you could always not vote for Marty, if you don't want four more years of him. That is, if he is a candidate. Ha.

Mayor is profiling a lot, I mean cracking down, here lately. First loud car stereos, then loud bikes, now loud cars. Maybe he should help us out with more bike lanes and better public transportation, then not so many people would be out cruising during the summer. But like I've said before, it's summer, people cruise, it's part of american culture. Guess when you don't have enough good things to say about yourself when running for another mayoral term, you have to make ish up to make you seem pro-active.

I have to admit that I am pro-noise ordinance. The way I see it, excessive noise, like you get from an unrestricted exhaust on a big twin, sport bike and sports car, is very much like second hand smoke. It intrudes into your space and is a health risk as recent studies on loss of hearing indicate.

damn....the handrail on that stairway would be AWESOME to slide down....if it weren't for all those spikes! OUCH!

@Tricross - not only hearing loss, but other health risks occur as a result of noise - increased BP, stress hormones. The Albuquerque organization of Citizens for a Quiet Environment has more info here.

@Barelas Babe - Funny. The CQE website lists Mayor Jim Baca as a contact in their About CQE page. Other than that there is some good stuff there. Thanks for the link!

So I won't disagree about what loud sounds can do to some people, but don't you have to come to expect louder sounds when living in a city? I know Tricross and I already got down on this conversation, and I still think both of our ages factor into how we feel about this issue (not that I'm trying to call you out for being old or anything).

More than anything, it just feels like the wrong way of going about this, and it totally feels like certain types of people (i.e. bikers, young people bumping in cars (double i.e. your stereotypical thug)) are going to be harassed more than ever by our ever-welcoming APD.
