What's going on, Albuquerque?

You know, I love me some Nob Hill and think it's a great section of town, but do they really need a grant to promote it as a place to come visit and spend money? How about a grant for the International District? Now THAT'S an area that just needs help. Serious help. Nob Hill, not so much.
You guys saw Hettie's link last week about the NM Main Street grants to 4th Ave Barelas and 5 Points in the S Valley, right? NM Main Street certainly doesn't have all their eggs in the Nob Hill basket, but like any of its other participating areas, Nob Hill can apply for and win grant money under the program...that's all this is.
Oh, I understand how it works, Phil 0--and clearly the Nob Hill Neighborhood Association and/or the Merchant's association are very savvy about the process. I am just saying that Nob Hill really just doesn't need it. Seems to me that they have a successful concept as it is. What they probably should do is address skyrocketing rents, which is one reason places go out of business in Nob Hill. Of course, I don't know what they can DO about skyrocketing rents, other than suggest that landlords stop being greedy.
Maybe the grant money could go to sprucing up Central east of Carlisle, where the rent is cheaper.
How about San Pedro from Lomas to Constitution/Indian School? I agree Nob Hill needs it less than other parts of town. It would be good for economic development to see other areas improved.
