I love the New Mexico Tea Company for many things; for its fabulous selection of tea and tea accessories, for its knowledgeable owner David Edwards (I haven't met his business partner but I'm sure she knows her stuff, too), and for the smell when I walk through the door. The smell was always a promise of things to come later since NM Tea Co didn't serve tea on the premises. Well they recently decided to change that, got the license they needed to serve food, and transformed the tiny back patio into a very sweet area that fits three tables for enjoying tea and a light menu, they call it the New Mexico Tea Bar. Here is an excerpt from their email newsletter this month describing the offerings:
The fruit was ripe and delicious, the scone and muffin were very fresh, and the jam tasted homemade in the best possible way. The patio was cute with umbrellas providing shade and a misting fan keeping us cool-ish. We stayed for an hour (or two?) and had a lovely time. Since the teas were free and we split the food plate, the whole thing was only $6.50! If we had paid for tea it would have been more like $10 and it would have been well worth it.
