What's going on, Albuquerque?
The Christina Kent Early Childhood Center has been downtown for a long time- over 90 years. With an even older building, they had to get creative. The pink tube on the side is an emergency slide. Imagine the fire drills. Wheee...
I've always wondered about this building...I remember being told as a kid that it was originally built as an orphanage. The chute's always been there, so far as I know. Is it actually still used? If so, very cool.
Hi Phil, The classrooms are all downstairs now so they don't need any quick escapes down the chute. I think this part of the building had originally been a duplex house. D
Cute Chute Dee. I always wanted to go down one of those. Apparently there are doors you kick open as you get to the bottom. It looks pretty steep.
As a kid my pops used to sneak into that building and go down the chute.
Thanks Johnny, It is steep and I think of those old fashioned skirts tucked under.
That's funny Ramon. Too tempting not to try.
