If you get a hankering to duplicate your LJ post it'd be great front-page material. You might even get a few replies from people who have more information/stories about it.

Our house is about 100 feet from the old Barelas ditch. You can still see the path, especially when you look at the platting in Martineztown. Our neighbor who lives right next to the old ditch is re-vegetating the hillside under the ditch.I have wondered where that ditch began because there is not a ditch coming through downtown.
Our little block has several gardens and new trees. As wacky as it sounds i tend to think that the land is glad to be "farmed" again.
Cool post.
