Our Roots Run Deep (and our arms are wide open)

Every now and again I have the opportunity to participate in a community event and contribute to a good cause, and this August 26th is one of those times.

POETS, MUSICIANS, ENTERTAINERS and ARTISTS are donating their talents to a BENEFIT SHOW for the New Mexico Faith Coalition for Immigrant Justice. Proceeds will go directly to create SANCTUARIES for families in need of a place to stay.

This means funds will be used for food, clothes, legal assistance/media, and other necessary resources.
Curator of the show is Lisa Alvarado.

Come to this stellar event and protect our neighbors, our friends, our co-workers - No human is illegal!

Saturday August 26 7-9 pm @ our favorite downtown hangout Duel Brewing ABQ.

The New Mexico Faith Coalition for Immigrant Justice collaborates with faith communities and the community at large to create an interfaith alliance in the State of New Mexico for immigrant justice, by educating our community about immigrant issues, providing compassionate services to immigrant families, advocating for humane immigration reform that promotes family unity, and respects the inherent dignity of every person.

Executive Director Justin Remer-Thamert says, "Our Roots Run Deep" and similar events are a crucial way for us to get the word out about opportunities to get involved with work for immigrant justice, financially support on-the-ground efforts that are imperative at this time, and listen deeply to the story of our current reality through poetry and artistic expression."

The event will feature poetry and spin by Jessica Helen Lopez, Glenn Buddha Benavidez, an acoustic set by Burque Sol and poetry galore. Bid on and win some gorgeous artwork by some of amazing artists!
