From The Two Whos:
As athletes, we juggle the priorities of family, lifestyle work and training and never seem to have enough time!
Chef and endurance athlete Adam Kelinson has written a book/cookbook that helps to take the mysetery out of cooking simple and quick whole meals that will help us eat right to increase performance. In his book, he jokes
about talking to athletes about what they eat. The athlete will rattle off a few things they eat without much enthusiasm....but when he talks to them about their bike frame or running shoes or wet suit they change their persona into that of a salesperson in a sports shop! This chef athlete says that we need to become as passionate about our bodies and the food we put into it as we are about our equipment!
Timing of meals is important to athletes and this is addressed in his book. He addresses before, during and post event meals as well as the importance of staying hydrated. He talks about transporting food to events and how to carry what you eat.
Adam is a whole foods advocate and is into sustainable processes and speaks about aligning our food with our community buying local, buying organic, knowing where your food comes from and developing relationships with local growers at farmer's markets.
The book is full or recipes that are wholesome and easy to prepare. Cece's favorite is Asian Chopped Chicken is lettuce cups. YUM! The only thing missing is the nutritional content for reach recipe.
