What's going on, Albuquerque?
How come I am just now finding your blog?
On September 5, 2010 on our drive back to New Mexico after having delivered our two grand daughters to their parents in Atlanta and half-way through the return trip our trusty up-until-then Subaru died, just died in the parking lot of a lousy restaurant next door to a lousy motel in Conway Arkansas. That Forester had 248K miles on its odometer. It's death was fortuitous! We were blessed! We checked in to the motel.
The next day, with intermittent WiFi service we managed to donate our car to Arkansas Public Radio.
This was the answer to my husband's dream --- No Car! It was not however the answer to mine. For me it seemed like a nightmare. He begged me to try to live without a car for a month as I searched online for the latest in car trends and deals. OK, I agreed.
We have been without a car of our own ever since. It's growing on me. I'm adjusting and the thought of owning a car does not appeal to me anymore. When I need one, I "share" with Enterprise and Zipcar.
I've enjoyed reading of your adventures.
