Summer Thursday Jazz Nights at Outpost continue this Thursday, August 5

This week at Outpost it's Resonance featuring vocalist, Patti Littlefield and low brass maestro, Mark Weaver in an unusual and experimental exploration of spatial sound: no chordal instruments, just tuba and voice, re-fashioning material ranging from standards to jazz and pop tunes to original compositions.

And for the second set of the evening, it's Equilibrio, a quartet whose concept “is based on balanced improvisation through the vehicle of original compositions written by its members.” Featuring bassist, Asher Barreras, whose music is influenced by the desert and mountains of New Mexico and the oceans and forests of Maine, and saxophonist Kanoa Kaluhiwa, one of the accomplished and respected saxophonists in New Mexico, who also plays the African Djembe and Mbira. With John Rangel, piano; and Julian MacDonough, drums.
