When I lived in Santa Fe - it was the back road to Albuquerque. Now that I'm here - it's the back road to Santa Fe. But you know something? IMO - despite any sibling city rivalry - here's one instance where the grass is green on both sides of the fence. Lucky us!
Having lived both here and there, my conclusion is we're all darn lucky to be in this awesomely beautiful, very untypical state called NEW MEXICO. And it wouldn't be the land of enchantment without Albuquerque and it wouldn't be the land of enchantment without Santa Fe.
A fun way to travel the road between here and there is the Turquoise Trail. Every inch of the way there's beauty to behold. And every time you travel this road - you see something a little different; something surprising.
This time we made our first stop in Los Cerrillos:

We took the turn off to Galisteo, just for the heck of it. Here's some of the scenes we saw on this leg of the journey:

Then we headed past Santa Fe to Shidoni Galleries, a bronze art foundry in Tesuque - a worthy destination in and of itself:

We ended our day at
La Choza
my absolute favorite New Mexican restaurant in Santa Fe.
Here's the really great thing: This road can be taken over and over again - with something new to check out every time!
