The Cream of the Crop on Display!
CROSSING: Graduate Students from 14 Western States

Opens Friday June 5th, 6-8 pm

We couldn't help but notice that the June issue of American Style Magazine ranked Albuquerque among the top 5 "big city"arts destinations. Keeping company with Chicago, San Francisco, NY City and DC is definitely a compliment, and we're proud to see Albuquerque getting its due recognition as a creative force. Let's keep this momentum going!

Toward that end, we are dedicated to promoting a culture of creative lifelong learning here at The Harwood and Escuela del Sol Montessori. Many of you may be familiar with our robust adult arts programs and you might even know a few things about Montessori education. But do you also know that we dedicate nearly half of our programming to young people's artistry? It's true. Whether they're losing their two front teeth, learning to drive, or preparing to enter the "real" world, we know that young folks are bubbling over with creative potential - and we want to facilitate its expression.

One of our newest programs, CROSSING, offers a supportive boost to promising graduate art students throughout the country. As these young adults prepare to leave the experimental sanctuaries of their schools, we offer them a competitive opportunity to showcase their work, network with peers from other MFA programs, and gain recognition outside of their niche academic markets. In addition to the juried two-month exhibit featuring all of the CROSSING winners, four of the artists receive additional kudos - including purchase awards and solo exhibits at the Richard Levy Gallery and here at The Harwood.

This year's 18 selected artists are an extremely talented and innovative bunch. From video installation, to sculpture, organic media, photography, and painting, next week's CROSSING opening reception will blow your socks off. Truly. So, if you're in the mood for four galleries full of fresh ideas and precise executions, you definitely need to walk our way. This might just be your chance to shmooze with tomorrow's next big Art Star :)
