What's going on, Albuquerque?
I bet the dude keeps filming the gas prices and thinking "man, can you believe gas is over a buck??"
It hits me as genius to film everyday things- no one thinks they'll change but they slowly do. Thanks for posting this. D
I tried to figure out where they are driving, but I have no idea. Anyone?
It finishes up at a Putt Putt golf- maybe the same one on San Mateo & Montgomery?
Skaggs Alpha Beta (now Albertsons) on Montgomery and San Mateo, M-Plaza, a shot of Del Norte HS, Putt-Putt on San Mateo and Mcleod, and I believe somewhere on San Pedro as well. A lot of up and down Montgomery.
I used to walk up Montgomery/Carlisle to DNHS during that exact period. I'd often stop at the Skaggs Alpha Beta in the mornings before school, and for lunch we would walk across the street to M-Plaza to play videogames and grab a slice of pizza in the food court downstairs. Remember the theater was downstairs? You had to ride an escelator to get there. Three screens, as I recall. One of them was tiny. Always hated seeing movies in the tiny theater.
The gameroom (remember gamerooms??) was called Games People Play if I recall correctly. Years later they tore out the theater and gameroom and made a big Laser Tag arena out of the space. That was pretty cool too. They had an observation deck and gameroom upstairs and you could just hang out and watch people play in the pit below.
Sounds like you knew those 'mean streets' inside out Ron! D
@Dee yeah, I owned that 'hood in those days. Didn't have a car, so everything I knew was on foot within a 5 mile radius. Later, I had friends with cars and we would cruise the streets all weekend long. Me in the back seat of a Mustang or a VW Beetle... Honestly, those were some of the best days of my life. Scrounging for two dollars, one for gas and one for a burger and coke at BK or MickeyDee's...Had a five dollar bill folded up in my wallet in case I met a girl. Emergency fund.
Funny, sounds a lot like my misspent youth on Long Island or anyone's perfectly misspent youth!
