The Sunday Poem: David Wilde... Dia de los Muertos

Who has not seen David Wilde roaming the streets and coffee houses of Nob Hill with a sheaf of papers and a smile?  Who has not noticed the bottle of malt vinegar on his table?  This former academician from the United Kingdom is a Central Ave. boulevardier of the first order and, according to the titles of these short poems, a very early riser.

the morning breaks

the last moon quarter

slides into view above

the eastern horizon

slivers into view

from somewhere

out of sight

out of mind

out of hearing

to those who

listen

and those who

wait

10/26/11 6:30am

dark no moon

means the dawn

soft shaded smell

of rain but no

pain now at this

point in time

this epoch of

minutes to the

mile of walking

stepping out and

on to the sidewalk

presence and

waiting  – waking

to the day – breathing

in the air

10/30/11  6:30

dia de los

muertos es libre

es flamenco con

gana con

obras completas

y  libros

de los fuerte

blanco y rojas

y verde

dia de la

muerte es libre

es debla

es finale con silencioso

As an early riser as well, I can really appreciate these! Especially the first two. Such precise, clear images... so evocative. Thank you!

Thank you David.  Your poems make me wanna forego my night owl ways and rise... if only once in a blue moon...  sweet!

Early morning is my favorite time of day. These poems capture its mood and promise in a refreshingly AM way. Thanks for sharing them. Dee
