Jon. Yes…I do have a collection - not yet typed out - of poems on Frontier teabag sachets. So in actual fact the collection is spread between teabags and notebooks equally of sufficient length to accommodate my epic-ally small pieces. I keep these poem/teabag structures in my checkbook for safekeeping. So if anything ever happens to me (?) the first thing is to check my checkbook for teabags and poems.

sleet slows traffic
on central a monday
morning rush reduced
by weather to
the meteorlogical

the ordinary

physical realism
like the rain
like the snow

ocean green but
blue tides sweep
the view from nob hill -
the rushing light
fusing shades of
rainbow hue
blending in the
pastel morning -
too bright to be
here for long
but not hiding
or ashamed to
rue its existence
this liquid new
horizon this brief
and all too visible
almost infinite clue

words of engaging
in verbal sparring a
barrack room vocabulary
reminiscent of socrates
or cicero which aims
to win or score points
by provocation and
intimidating language
the kind a barber might
use in the ring -
while snipping or snapping
or trimming

Comment by Margaret Randall on September 30, 2012 at 8:11am It's always wonderful to see David's smiling face at Flying Star, to see him scribbling away on a napkin or two... these poems are lovely, reminding us to think about the small moments and their resonance. Thank you, David and Jon.
Comment by dai wilde on September 30, 2012 at 12:44pm Thanks Jon and Margaret. It alway gives me a kick too to see these little 'englyons' up there with the well-known and not so well-known of the Duke City! (Englyon = Welsh)
