Hi BB, Slamming is getting your voice up and out to an audience, generally in a competition scored somewhat ironically like Olympic sports. slam is the "poor man's X Sport" according the Kenn rodriquez, local slam master/host/poet and nice guy. Slamming happens around town at various venues, oftern preceded by an open mic (no competition) generally each open mic poet gets five minutes at the mike. See ABQslams.org xoxo come back to Dime Stories 3, 6. 9 mins the new choices. Third thurs at The Source
I saw Outchanda mentioned in an earlier post. Did you know that it's now the Eric Griego campaign's HQ? They were across the street (S. 4th St.), but the landlord offered a good deal on this bigger (but funky) building. Hope to see you there.
ps I wasn't too happy with Gate at the Stairs--did just very much enjoy Truth and Beauty by Anne Patchet, but recommend reading Autobiography of a Face by Lucy Grealy first.
Hi BB, Well, I haven't been a faithful Duke City blogger, too busy and I lose sites easily--just saw your comments. I am doing a little one day workshop, actually 90 minutes, I think, for Poetry in Place March 26 at the Open Space for the big poetry shindig there. Other than that, not teaching this term, writing on my own--I do attend a salon you would be most welcome to join 2nd and 4th Wed nites 7-9, and Fixed N Free Poetry reading the fourth Thursday every month at The Source in Nob Hill--same as DCDS but 4th Thurs. F&F is a very supportive audience open non-mic reading . Where are you now?
So, it doesn't have anything to do with NM specifically, but here's an interesting article about human's love for spice and the biochemistry and psychology behind it. Just in case it might fit alongside a Morning Fix article or something... http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/blog/2010/sep/14/chilli-hot-food
(and please forgive the constant misspelling of Chile)
What's up Barelas Babe: Thanks for the nice comment about my blog. I'm glad people are stopping by and reading it. It feels good to write about what's going on behind the story. As you know, we only have so much time during the newscast. Take care and thank you again!

This is all quite confusing and my astrologer told me "Just hold on and watch uranus and mars in conjunction". Anyone else have this problem?
Love Lucille Clifton. I just read Jeanette Winterson's memoir, Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal?
Smart date metaphor. And I loved the history behind Carnuel/Mountain Road.
My email is don@publicendeavors.com; cell is 505-321-8856. I'm also on Facebook.
Hey, thanks for the note. Would definitely be interested. Maybe we can chat later this week?
