On the way HOME

It's been a remarkable journey. I was born in raised in ABQ, then went to the southeast for college. I got stuck there for over twenty years. I have no good explanation why. The siren call of Albuquerque has pulled on me all this time. Recently I was able to spend a couple of years back in the Q doing a work project: it was the best years of my life. There's no place like home.

After my most recent time in ABQ, I went to Atlanta for a couple years, where I found my sweet sexy loverwife; then we meandered to Phoenix for nine months, lured by promises that were never fulfilled. It's interesting, for the whole time I've been in Phoenix people over and over asked why I moved here, and I never had a viable answer---not one that resonated with my inner core. Now, as we move back to Albuquerque I realize the reason to go there is obvious---IT'S HOME! See you soon.

Comment by cathyray on June 2, 2008 at 9:38am: I was a air force brat growing up. My father retired here when i was still in elem school. By the time I graduated from high school (go manzano!!) I could not wait to get out of here. I thought the desert was ugly, boring & brown. I went to college in Texas & wound up staying there for 15 years. Finally my folks came to fetch me in a uhaul & I've been here ever since. There are a lot of places I enjoy but can't imagine living anywhere else.
