A mother's sacrifice, a daughter's joy
Just got back from taking my daughter to her first concert - Fall Out Boy. (I guess the concerts at the zoo don't count as 'real' concerts.) Despite the awful drive all the way out to the Santa Ana Star Center, the hundreds of screaming teenage girls, the awful bands that opened up for the really loud Fall Out Boy, the $25 t-shirt, and the hell getting out of the parking lot - I had fun. Why? Because my daughter had the biggest grin from ear to ear the entire time. She sang every bad song, screamed when each band mentioned Albuquerque, screamed at the loud boom of the pyrotechnics, and jumped up and down when canons dropped about a ton of confetti. She must have said 'awesome' 100 times on the way home. It was a small sacrifice to see my daughter have so much fun.

After a childhood of mostly classical music (except for the soundtrack to Grease and that night that a neighbor brought over the single of Devo's 'Whip It', oh, and do I admit it? Shaun Cassidy), my first concert was Sting in Houston. They gave out little yellow flashlights which I didn't know until later were substitutes for lighters! Thanks for the memories!
