First Annual Fiesta de Frida Arts & Crafts Show, Sunday, July 6th

First Annual Fiesta de Frida Arts and Crafts Show
Hosted by the Duke City Renegades Art Guild

Enjoy our First Annual Fiesta de Frida Arts & Crafts Show, which celebrates the dynamic personality and artistic accomplishments of artist Frida Kahlo.

In honor of her 101st birthday, you'll find an explosion of color, culture, art, and craft, in beautiful Roosevelt park. The show includes a silent art auction, with proceeds going to The Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation, live music, food, arts & crafts booths, and other activities.

Enter the Firda Kahlo look-alike contest (men and women alike!) for a chance to win an artsy prize basket. Stroll under the trees and enjoy local food and music while you shop for handmade goods.

Local artwork on display includes handmade jewelry, original paintings (oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media), fused glass, textile arts, purses & bags, hand-painted boxes, photography, t-shirts, art prints, and more.

When:
Sunday, July 6th, 2008
10 am - 5 pm

Where:
Roosevelt Park (at Coal and Spruce), Albuquerque, NM

Oh my gosh- I love this idea- time to dig out the huipiles and silver and find your inter Frida.
If I could draw I would do the "Diego on my Mind" thing with the portrait smack in the middle of my forehead.

Come on down, mombat! We'll find someone to put Diego on your forehead. ;-)

Love it! I'll wear my skeletal Frida which I got from Masks and Mas, (by a local artist, of course).

We had such a great turnout! Lots of people excited about next year. Frida #2 will allow (tentatively) 100 artist booths and 12 food booths. We're also going to have a REAL fashion show and a real costume contest (they weren't well planned this year). I'll try to post photos. Lots of people came dressed as Frida and everyone loved the giant pinatas.
