My daughter and I were just on 2nd Street between Menaul and Candelaria when I had to do a double take. Itsa Italian Ice is back! They've only been open since July 12th.

We walked in and indulged ourselves with great Italian Ice. They have a full menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, Frito pie, corn dogs, gelati, ice cream, and of course, Italian Ice. Didn't get lunch, but the choices for the ice were many - lemon, cherry, watermelon, black raspberry, bluemoon, lime, grape, cantaloupe, banana, and tangerine.

I'll be back for lunch very soon. The service was fantastic! This is the perfect stop for a hot summer day!

I remember the Itsa truck rolling through the neighborhood all summer long when we were kids... What was it we used to order, a mix of all the flavors?? A cyclone? A suicide?

God, I grew up on that stuff. A particular summer comes to mind when I think of Itsa Ice. I was in the summer camp/rec program at Zia Elementary (eons ago!) and every Wednesday (at least that’s what my memory recalls), a councilor (probably a HS student) would walk us kids to the Itsa Ice place on Lomas and we would indulge in yummy, sugary, cold Itsa Ice! For the past couple of years, the Itsa truck has been making their appearance at different car shows. That's when I learned they were going to reopen the store. Yay!!

Interesting! I knew the owners of the previous one, so I'm curious if they've started it up again, or if it's in the hands of new owners. I'll have to ask.

Anyone remember the Snow Cone Lady?

Dang, this is exciting news. Wish it was still on Lomas, though!

I saw it as I drove down 2nd Street a couple of weeks ago on my way to a meeting. I stopped in on my way home for a hot dog and a gelati. It was great! Adelita's right; the service was fantastic. The couple who own the place are so nice. I hope they do well in this new location.

Hooray! I love Itsa. I remember, when I was very young, they used to send a truck around to parks around the city (like an ice cream truck). Yummy!

Ohh, I think my sweetheart would absolutely love this. I'd better take him out for a burger and an icy treat. Thanks for posting about this!

Went there for lunch today. Mmmmm! Hot dogs are "Nathan's" brand, and are grilled. Delish! The fries are skin-on, and a little overdone for my taste. The Italian Ice was perfect. I forgot how much of a brain-freeze inducing creation they are. Since the ice crystals are sooo small and smooth, it doesn't take much to have you wincing in freeze-related joyous agony. A great place to go on a hot day!
