How do I function in this world? I just got back from spending a week in Vegas for a roller derby convention. It was roller derby heaven. I had all of my sisters there doing their derby or die thing. I met so many new amazing people. I got to hang out with so many of my friends. I presented a work shop on emergency action planning. I was so professional. It was non stop derby action. There were skating classes in the morning, Fremont street challenge bouts, scrimmaging at night. I only remember half of the black and blue ball. There was so much going on it was easy to get burnt out. RollerCon is an endurance race, not a sprint. Its hard to go to bed by 2am.
Now I am back to the grind. Jumping through hoops for school. Trying to make enough money to keep my head above water. Trying to keep making positive changes.
Politicking the derby! Yeah I spoke in front of the Gov. I was lobbying how we need to keep Tingly a multi use auditorium and that roller derby can fulfill its need of use year round. I am getting all anxious just thinking about this. I was shaking for minutes after speaking. I think I was well received. I met Sheryl Williams-Stapleton whom the new African-American Arts building was after and Mr Al Parks whom is a friend of the boxing commission. I am making so good new connections. Now give me a venue I can sk8 in.
Derby or Die
